Sharing in the Queenship of Mary Mother of God

Mary received Christ, she treasured and pondered on God’s words and actions in her heart. She was able to draw closer to her son daily giving Him to the entire human race. We Christians, too therefore, before we give Christ to men and women in the world, it is necessary to allow Christ to be in our hearts and for us to be in His heart. We have a call of being transfigured into the image of Christ but before that we need to be Mary-like, indeed living her qualities of humility,  trustfulness, faithfulness, willingness, courage, honesty and loving Jesus, so that God can live within our hearts.

As people of God, we become adopted children of God through Jesus Christ according to God’s will and purpose (Eph 1:5). It is through baptism that we become sharers into the three divine offices of Christ: Priests, Prophets and Kings thus sharing fully into His reign.

We become adopted Children, in that God becomes our Father, Jesus becomes our brother and Mary becomes our Mother. While on the Cross, Jesus said “Woman behold your son, and turning to the disciple whom He loved, He said Son behold your Mother”. This gave us a great entry into the noble family of God. It is through this adoption, we become children of God and sharers into the Kingship of Jesus.

We share into the Queenship of Mary when we revere her and entrust our lives in her intercession as our noble Mother. Mary is our Queen whose virtues should be mirrored into the life of every person. Mary is a woman of faith, filled with a gift of free and loving obedience to God, she is filled with a great concern for others as seen at the wedding feast of Cana (Jn 2:5). By imitating Mother Mary, the Handmaid of the Lord as an example of our humility, generosity, a model of prayer and faith, we are obediently participating in God’s will.

Entering into the Queenship of Mary Mother of God, invites every Christian to deepen his/her relationship with Christ and become fully incorporated into the Kingdom of God. Following the life of Mother Mary, we need to be both active and contemplative in expressing our faith in Christ. This Queenship is the one of love, peace, faith and trust in God. To share in the Queenship of Mary, we are invited to be “servants of the Lord,” for Whom the Mighty One has done great things, glorifying God’s Son and our Savior. In this Queenship we should always be with Mary contemplating upon the Cross of which the King of Kings was crucified. We all share this Queenship from the Cross when Jesus entrusted His mother and His disciple to each other and from that time He said “it is finished” (Jn19:30). Mary becomes the Mother of God and our mother too thus making us princes and princesses in the Kingdom of God.

This article is a dedication to all people of God, who express their Faith in God by loving His Mother and have a deep desire to share more in the Divine life of God.

This is really great. Am very happy to have this opportunity of reading such important information for my Salvation. Actually the ignorance of the Scriptures is the ignorance of Christ. And the ignorance of Mary is the ignorance of Christ. May Mother Mary interceed for us to always say YES to God.

Thanks Fr for this very wonderful article about Mary, a great Woman whose “yes” has made us who we are today on matters of FAITH! Simple poor girl of Nazareth, who bore all for our sake! She’s indeed the “City of God”! Mary, teach us to love Jesus and God as you did! Amen
